P&G Canada and its brands announce donations totaling over $2.5 million in hygiene products, hand sanitizers, face masks and financial support to healthcare workers and Canadians impacted by the COVID-19 crisis. Since the onset of the outbreak, P&G has been working with its long-standing charitable partners, government officials, and other organizations to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic. To date, P&G’s cash, product and in-kind donations add up to tens of millions of dollars across 30 brands, more than 200 different organizations, and in 30 countries. This will continue to increase as we work with communities around the world to support their efforts. “During these unprecedented times, P&G is committed to doing everything possible to ensure the health and safety of all our employees, to continue to serve our consumers with essential products and to take meaningful action to help communities in need and those on the frontlines,” says Eric Breissinger, president, P&G Canada. “Now more than ever, the company and our people are stepping up to be a force for good for those who have always been there for us.” P&G has started manufacturing face masks, hand sanitizer, and face shields at various manufacturing facilities globally. In Canada, P&G will begin producing non-surgical-grade barrier masks at its Belleville site and hand sanitizer at its Brockville site over the coming weeks. Once production is up and running, the company will be working with local government entities to donate product that it can manufacture beyond its operational needs. The masks and sanitizer produced will not be available for retail sale. Since the beginning of the COVID-19 outbreak, P&G has worked with its longstanding partner, GlobalMedic, a Canadian disaster relief organization, to deliver everyday health and hygiene essentials to those who need it most during this challenging time. As part of this effort, P&G has donated 33,000 hygiene kits totaling over $500,000 to local shelters and food banks. These kits include essential hygiene items from brands like Crest, Oral B, Pantene, Secret, Always, Old Spice, and Ivory. In addition, Pampers has contributed 30,000 diapers through United Way member agencies and Tide is donating in-kind product through Food Banks Canada. In recognition of the critical role of health care workers during this pandemic, P&G, in partnership with GlobalMedic, is donating personal care items to hospitals for health care workers across Canada. This includes more than 200,000 units of product totaling over $1 million from brands like Pantene, Head & Shoulders, Olay, Secret, Old Spice, Gillette, Venus, Crest, Oral-B, Tampax, and Tide. “In times of crisis, we are grateful for the support from companies like P&G who enable us to keep helping the most vulnerable in our society,” says Rahul Singh, executive director, GlobalMedic. “We are truly appreciative of P&G’s support over the years and their commitment to give back to Canadians in need.” In addition, P&G and its brands are donating to various Canadian charitable organizations to support shelters, foodbanks, and health care workers:
